My friend, AnneMarie (visit her blog at http://thelifestyleleaf.blogspot.com/?m=0 ) and I got together awhile ago to do some baking. I have some 6-inch round cake pans, so we decided to make two small two layer cakes so she could just take one home for her family. We just used a quick yellow cake recipe and filled in between the layers with raspberry jam, which if you have never tried, it's really good. We also just used a reliable cream cheese frosting recipe. The first one we decorated wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. We were going for the petal cake look.
It's a little messy but I don't think it's bad for our first try! The second one is a lot easier than it may look, all you have to do is frost swirled roses on the edges and it gives it such a nice look.
I hope these give you some ideas for decorating your next cake!
